Americans are getting more and more overweight each year. The way we are living our lives just isn’t conducive to good health anymore. Most people who are overweight have already tried about everything to lose those extra pounds but have been met with frustration and disappointment at every turn. Even those who have worked really hard to do “everything” right are often discouraged by how long it takes to get their metabolism back on track.

What is missing is a holistic approach that looks at the underlying causes of obesity in each person.  Many times the culprit is an unresolved emotional issue. Other times there is a hormone imbalance or an issue with toxicity in the body. Almost always there is some amount of food intolerance or allergy.

Physical factors
There are many factors that play a role in unhealthy weight gain. Inadequate and imbalanced diet with an excess of caloric intake and the lack of appropriate movement and exercise are the most obvious elements. However, what is less frequently considered is the role of metabolism controlling hormones (insulin, thyroid, cortisol, estrogen, leptin and grehlin), toxicity (pesticides, food additives etc) and digestive system imbalances (food allergy or sensitivity and imbalances in the microbial environment of the gut.

Emotional Factors
Anyone who has tried to lose significant weight has realized that the emotional component of weight loss is very powerful. Past emotional events can imprint into our psyche. Occasionally we find that we are living our current reality based on these past events even though the emotional response is no longer appropriate. While psychological counseling may be helpful for extreme cases, there are powerful techniques and tools that we are able to guide you that are capable of clearing the blocks and allowing you to move through them to your goals.

Nutritional Factors
